A major investigation is underway after a body was discovered at Good Hope Hospital. Police were called after the body of a man was found inside a vehicle in the car park near the Accident and Emergency entrance, at 4.50pm on Friday (April 22).
Police said they are trying to identify the deceased The Sutton Coldfield hospita l remains open to the public.
An area of the car park has been cordoned off while detectives and forensics conduct their investigation. It is expected to remain closed until at least Saturday afternoon.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: “We’re investigating after a body of a man, believed to be in his late 50s, was found in a car at Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield. The cause of man’s death is unknown.
“From the time we were called at 4.50pm on Friday 22 April, we’ve been working hard to identify the man. We’re working closely with the hospital and are making good progress.
“An area of the car park is closed off while detectives and forensic experts examine the scene. The area will be closed off until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest.”

An eyewitness said: “It was about 8pm. The scene is by the ambulance entrance. The car is behind a police van and it’s taped off.
“A member of staff told me it was a crime scene. There’s a police car parked outside one of the drop-off zones.
“I couldn’t access the normal entrance into A&E. CID is on scene and police incident support vehicle just arrived.”
